Founding Declaration

"Several Gentlemen in Montrose and its vicinity
who are desirous of promoting the knowledge
of Natural History, having long considered the
establishment of a Museum as, not only essentially
connected with this department of
knowledge, but also as highly conducive to
the success of other scientific and literary
Institutions in the place, they have therefore
resolved to attempt, without delay, the
commencement of a Museum, and to solicit
contributions, in Money or Specimens, from
all who are friendly to its object."
